Baptism
Baptism is a public profession that someone has become a follower of Christ.
Baptism
Taking the plunge.
Baptism is a personal and sacred decision before God. Every person who has made the decision to believe in, and has become a follower of Christ should be baptised.
Living Word Hibiscus Coast baptises by full water immersion, unless we’re baptising someone with physical or health limitations.
Dedication Service
Babies and children that are too young or immature to understand the sacred commitment, are dedicated to God.
During a dedication service, officiated by our church shepherd and surrounded by the congregation, Christian parents dedicate their infant to God and make a promise to raise their child in a Godly way.
The child is welcomed into the church and prayers are said for the child, for the parents, and God’s blessing is conveyed on the child and the whole family.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the right time to get baptized?
Baptism is a personal and sacred decision before God. The timing of this significant step can only be decided by you. We trust that God will lead you to this step when your heart is willing.
I was baptised, but it was not my decision, should I be re-baptised?
You should be re-baptised if, at the time of your baptism, you were a baby that had no decision-making power, you were too young or immature to understand the sacred commitment, or if you were coerced into baptism.
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable that you won’t care about getting wet. Most people opt to wear a t-shirt and modest shorts. You can also wear a bathing suit under your clothes. We will give you a baptism t-shirt to wear for the event. Bring a change of clothes, a towel, and a plastic bag for your wet clothes.
Why do we immerse in water when baptising?
Jesus was baptised by being immersed in the water and rising out of it (Matt 3:16, Mark 1:10). Baptism memorialises the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. When the member arises from the water he/she is washed clean of his/her old life and is reborn to a new life as a follower of Christ (2 Cor. 5:17, Rom. 6:4).
Must I be a member of the church to be baptised?
No, but we would lik you to complete our New Life course first.
Is there a fee?
No, the baptismal service is free!
How do I schedule a baptism?
Our upcoming baptismal services will be held at Southport Beach on 18 October 2019 and 29 March 2020. Complete our online enquiry form to join an upcoming baptismal service.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
